Juggling two salons: The reality of moving and working at the same time

Moving house is one thing, but moving a home salon with it? That’s a whole different level of chaos! Right now, I’m in the middle of relocating my home salon, but here’s the catch—we've moved house, but I’m still working in my old salon at our old house while setting up the new one. So, for the first time in years, I actually have a commute!

The balancing act

Running a salon from home has always been about convenience, but now I’m splitting my time between two locations. It means making sure I have childcare in place, being certain everything is where I need it to be, and keeping things running smoothly for my clients—all while transforming a brand-new space into my dream salon.

It’s been a juggling act of appointments, decorating, and logistics. I won’t lie; it’s A LOT. But it’s also exciting! This move is all about growth and creating an even better experience for my clients... All while keeping my working day convenient and efficient for my own home life.

Lessons from the move

As much as it's proving to be, I’ve picked up a few key lessons along the way:

1. Planning is everything – Having a clear schedule for client appointments, moving tasks, and admin is keeping me (just about) sane.

2. Clients appreciate honesty – Being upfront with clients about the transition has been key. My wonderful clients are as excited about the new space as I am!

3. Adaptability is a superpower – Things will go wrong. Stuff doesn't fit where you want it to, unexpected delays happen—but staying flexible and problem-solving on the go is crucial.

What’s next?

I can’t wait to share the finished result once my new salon is ready. It’s going to be a fresh, beautiful space designed for both efficiency and comfort - and with more space than ever for our training courses. Until then, I’ll keep hopping between locations, making sure my clients get the best service no matter where I’m working from!
